The seed for Climbarts wasn't planted in a boardroom, but on the sun-drenched, yet often plastic-strewn, beaches of Krabi, Thailand. I was on a climbing holiday, immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the limestone karsts and turquoise waters. Yet every Monday, our group traded climbing shoes for rubbish bags, dedicating ourselves to cleaning the very shores we cherished.
It was during these beach clean-ups that the reality hit hard. Week after week, we collected alot of plastic—discarded straws, forgotten toothbrushes, countless bottles. It was a stark contrast to the pristine natural environment we'd come to adore, a tangible reminder of the impact our modern world was having on these precious ecosystems.
That experience in Krabi became a turning point. I began to question everything, especially the materials we use daily, and particularly in the activewear that fuels our adventures. Could we create high-performance gear that didn't contribute to this growing problem? Could we empower movement while simultaneously championing the health of our planet?
The answer, I believed, was a resounding yes. And so, Climbarts was born.
